Food dishes at kathmandu restaurant

Kathmandu
Colston Street, 0117 929 4455

Kathmandu is a very stylish Nepalese and Indian restaurant, tucked away in the centre of town, opposite the Colston Hall. Owing to its "tucked away" location, Kathmandu relies heravily on word of mouth. The restaurant is a family run business, which shows not only in the immaculate presentation of its interior but also in the amazing quality of their dishes. So on to the food; we started with the classic appetiser of some poppadoms and selection of sauces that were all fantastic. For a starter we had the Kathmandu Platter to share. This platter is meant for four people, so needless to say we were thrilled there were only 3 of us.

If you know your geography you will know Nepal is land locked, so fish is a delicacy for the Nepalese. With this being the case I decided to try their Monk Fish Sunkoshi. Monk Fish cooked in a Nepalese sauce and spiced to your taste (mild for us as we are spice lightweights!) served with pan-

fried potatoes, asparagus, saffron rice and salad. This dish was exceptional! I would recommend it to anyone, even if you aren't a fish fan. If you really don't like fish then I would suggest their Duck Makulu.

Kathmandu imports all their spices from a village in Nepal, which gives their food a fantastically unique flavour. This can be complemented quite nicely with a Cheese and Onion Nan, and a glass of house Merlot. Not a wine fan? Try the Nepalese imported lager called "Kathmandu". There is a dessert board hosting some nice ice-cream dishes that will soothe the tongue of the hot curry fans and delight the taste buds of the mild curry connoisseur.

If you are an Indian food lover, you will thoroughly enjoy the Nepalese food offered at Kathmandu. If you just want to try a new Indian restaurant then they have that covered too. All in all, Kathmandu is an amazing place to go to eat and sample Nepalese cuisine at its finest.
